What information we collect and why

When you contact us

If you fill in our contact form, email or phone us, we collect your name, email address, phone number and anything you tell us about your project. We use this to reply to you, prepare quotes and arrange surveys. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries, or taking steps at your request before entering into a contract.

When you work with us

If you are a client, supplier or subcontractor, we hold business contact details and records needed to deliver and manage projects, invoice and keep proper accounts. Our lawful basis is the performance of a contract and our legal obligations (for example, tax and health and safety records).

When you apply for a job

If you apply for a role with us, we use your CV and the information you send us to assess your application and contact you. Our lawful basis is taking steps at your request before entering into an employment contract.

When you browse this website

With your consent, we use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site, such as which pages are visited and how people found us. This information does not tell us who you are. We only load Google Analytics if you accept analytics cookies. Our lawful basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device. When you first visit the site we ask which cookies you’re happy for us to use. Only necessary cookies are set until you choose otherwise. You can change your choice at any time using the cookie icon in the bottom corner of every page.

Who we share your information with

We never sell your personal information. We only share it with trusted organisations that help us run our business, and only as much as they need:

  • our website hosting provider and Cloudflare, who host and protect this website;
  • Microsoft, who provide our email and office systems;
  • Google, if you accept analytics or marketing cookies (Google Analytics, Google Maps and YouTube);
  • our website and IT support provider, who maintains this site;
  • professional advisers such as our accountants, insurers and legal advisers, where necessary;
  • clients, main contractors and regulators where this is needed to deliver a project or meet a legal requirement.

Some of these providers may process information outside the UK. Where they do, we make sure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as UK adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Agreement.

How long we keep your information

We only keep personal information for as long as we need it. Enquiries that don’t lead to any work are normally deleted within two years. Client, supplier and project records are kept for as long as needed to meet our legal, tax and insurance obligations, typically six years after a project ends. Unsuccessful job applications are normally deleted within six months.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete;
  • ask us to delete your information;
  • object to or ask us to restrict how we use your information;
  • ask us to transfer your information to another organisation;
  • withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on consent.

To make a request, email [email protected]. We will respond within one month.

If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, please contact us first so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
